Shirley Plantation

Today we went to Shirley Plantation on the James River.
The current building(s)were started in 1723. Family still lives there.
It was very interesting hearing some of family history and history of the site.
The plantation was founded in 1613.

Wreathes from the Historic Area

Wreathes are made using natural and found materials. We saw feathers, shells, antlers, cotton, fresh and dried fruit, dried flowers, leaves and grasses.

Apples

Notice the apples in the wall. Every morning they replace the apples that the squirrels ate.

Christmas Town Busch Gardens, VA

Christmas Town at Busch Gardens, VA is a remarkable place.  The different countries of Busch Gardens are all decorated and lit up in different colors by country.  For example, Ireland is all green of course, Italy is mostly white with some reds, France is mostly Purple/pinkish etc.  There are rides open and all kinds of merchandise for sale from each country.  It is so cool to see this place all lit up!  There are also various shows themed to each country.

The Christmas town train makes a circuit all the way around the perimeter of the countries.
Kathy and Mary on a really cool ride.  It goes straight up 240 feet then free falls to the bottom.  I didn't think they had it in them!
Last picture from me.  This was a beautiful tree lit with white lights and surrounded around the path by bushes lit in yellow.
There is also a sky ride that makes a triangle over the entire area.  We have been on that ride before and it is beautiful.  We didn't go on that one this time because the lines were way too long.  This year they made it just a ride with only one station open.  In the past it made stops at the different countries and you could get on and off.
